YottaStor addresses the technical limitations and spiraling costs of storing massive amounts of data.  These "As-a-Service" offerings deliver lower costs and increased capabilities to the market segment we serve – which is consumers of massive amounts of data.

YottaStor accommodates volumes of data that others cannot either because their technology cannot handle the massive data load or because the resultant cost to customers would be prohibitive, or both.                                                 

In that sense, YottaStor is an emergent technology – closely related to traditional storage service but differentiated in its unprecedented ability to cost effectively handle massive data requirements.  YottaStore recently received a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office validating the uniqueness of its approach.

YottaStor takes its name from the term “yottabyte” which is equivalent to 1 trillion terabytes of data. YottaStor provides a new generation of highly sophisticated Storage as a Service offerings that are specifically designed to operationalize immense amounts of data at a fraction of the cost of traditional technologies.

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), a global provider of market intelligence, information storage in the 2020s is expected to be 40 Zettabytes (i.e. 40,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes), an amount nearly 50 times larger than exists today. YottaStor was created to take on this explosion of information.

This explosion is largely driven by the acceleration of machine generated data, which is the newest category of information, and will likely be the greatest contributor to future growth.

Machine generated data has unique characteristics that do not exist in the more traditional data types created by most organizations. Machine generated data is typically immutable, persistent and very large in size. And the retention period of this data is typically significantly longer than more traditional forms of data.

With the growth in machine generated data, the cost of storage, retrieval and analysis becomes expensive and even prohibitive using traditional data storage architectures.

One specific limitation of current architectures is network transfer capacity.  Organizations use a wide variety of distributed data collection sources (computers, sensors, data capture devices) that all put stress on the network as the resultant data gets transferred to centralized locations for storage and analysis. Given the current and projected growth in data, the network transfer capacity is magnitudes “too small” to move the massive amount of data from capture locations to the central processing location with acceptable latency.

YottaStor provides the capability to store and exploit data from desired sources in real time or near-real time to meet the needs of the user, and to move this archive of data and information to a different location so that analysts can have use of that data for their ongoing tasks.

  1. Hosted– in which all necessary equipment is securely housed and maintained at YottaStor facilities.
  2. On Customer Premise – in which all necessary equipment is housed at customer data centers
  3. Expeditionary – in which all necessary equipment is integrated into rugged containers that can be deployed by the customer to desired locations
